  3. Cyber bullying

Dear people who think they’re better than everyone else,

The girl you just called fat? She has been starving herself and has lost over 30lbs. The boy you called stupid? He has a learning disability and studies over 4hrs a night. The girl you just called ugly? She spends hours putting make-up on hoping people will like her. The boy you tripped yesterday? He is abused enough at home.

Sincerely, there is a lot more to people than you think. Stop bullying.
    taken from dearblankpleaseblank.com

You may have encountered people in your school or community calling other people names, picking on someone, threatening, and ridiculing them in front of their friends. These people are bullies. Whether conscious or not, these individuals always find pleasure and thrill by picking on defenseless victims to gain respect and at times, fame.

They have been around for sometime and are no doubt a part of the early stages of our life -including elementary and high school years. Thus, we can say that school has become a primary venue for this ego-tripping activity.
Technology, however, has given them a whole new platform for their activity. It has been identified as “cyber bullying”, or the act of persecution that occurs via the internet. Examples would include vicious forum posts, name calling in chat rooms, and mean or cruel email to someone who said they want no further contact with the sender. It may also include hate speech or trash talks,  threats, sexual remarks, ganging up on victims by making them a subject of ridicule in forums, an posing fake statements as fact aimed at humiliation.

One of the differences of its face-to-face version, on the other hand, cyber bullying allows a bully to remain unidentified. With much less risk of being caught, it is easier to bully in cyberspace than it is to bully another in person.
Because of this, many people assume that forms of cyber bullying like virtual name calling cannot have real effects on the well being of people, especially kids and teens. Its effects are alarming enough, thus becoming a big issue for parents as well as teachers. There have been several stories in the news of children, teens, and young adults who have been driven to commit suicide or violent crime as a result of being bullied online. While these tend to be the more extreme cases, it can have a serious effect on a teenager’s self-esteem and emotional well-being. This can often lead to further negative consequences like depression, and poor performance in school.

Because of the numerous recent incidences of bullying experienced by children from their schoolmates, Ako Bicol Partylist filed the House Bill 2361 or known as Anti-Bullying Act of 2010 on August 19. In this bill, children who are under 18 years old will be held liable. Those who bully will be obliged to pay the consequences and damages of their actions.

Parents and teachers are best equipped to recognize changes in the behavior of their child that might be the result of cyber bullying. Communicating with them and understanding how they “live” online as well as offline will not only help parents to stay informed, but can also let their child know that they exist.

  4. Time

Strange thing, time. It weighs most on those who have it least. The last time I remembered cramming, I had to finish passing all requirements, projects, quizzes, tuition fees, exams, and my research topic which I unfortunately haven’t even done yet. It gives you a mind-boggling feeling that you know there must be something more important you could be doing than studying for exams or doing your research for the stake of graduating with a peace of mind. It seems not so long ago that I remembered entering this great institution and finally, I’m in my fourth year of high school and actually graduating in a few months. Time runs fast that you don’t even realize. I usually tell myself that time is important and should not be taken for granted. And being a student, time is of the essence.

2012 came quickly, as well as the lessons and exams. Looking back at all the lessons we encountered, I feel drained like I had used and consumed all my thousands of terabyte brain memory. As the year dawns, I can’t help but think of what will happen to me when I reach college. I took entrance exams and fortunately passed two of them and now I’m torn between CPU and WVSU. I didn’t take the UPCAT because I’m pretty well expecting that I won’t pass. With two schools to choose from, mom insists that I go for CPU because she too had graduated from that institution and took BS in commerce. As of now, I haven’t yet decided which course to choose from. I suck at math so accountancy and engineering is not for me. I suck at science so all science-related courses also isn’t for me. But I find English a bit fun and my first choice was AB English but as I was telling my friends and teachers about my chosen course, many opposed. LOL. Some say it’s rubbish, others, useless. Useless, because if ever I’ll graduate with that decision, what will happen to me? What work will I get? A call center agent? A  teacher to Korean students? That’s what they are saying and complaining. So, that’s why until now I haven’t yet decided.

With months before the graduation, deadline looms and research has stalled, here I am sitting like nothing’s about to happen in the coming months. Prom is fast approaching as well as my birthday and, and. And I just need a little more time. I really wonder: why is it that whenever I have a lot of things to do, I’ve got much less time? I should’ve been in bed three hours ago but here I am, doing my best to finish what needs to be finished.

I still have work to do and because of my negligence I end up cramming and not knowing what to do about it. Due to lack of time, we sacrifice ourselves finalizing what is left of our business. We tend to neglect finishing our work for tomorrow because we are confident that tomorrow we’ll have plenty of time to work but only then we realize that it’s too late. Time, brothers and sisters, is very crucial. Because lost time is never found again. Just like what the old saying goes:

Time is like money; the less we have of it to spare the further we make it go.

  5. Samahang walang katulad

  6. Birthday crisis

Valentine’s day is fast approaching and I haven’t had any plans for my birthday celebration yet! Until now, I didn’t have thoughts of partying or going out with friends on my special day. Anyway, prom is on the 13th and I really hope the JS will sing me a happy birthday when midnight strikes. Wouldn’t it be great? But the dilemma is not when or where I’ll be celebrating. It’s the money. I know that I should be saving a long time ago but I didn’t make it. I had a lot of things in mind that saving seems so hard to enforce. And now, I’m stuck with the problem of being broke. And I really do hope my oh-so-stingy parents will lend me money, say… a thousand pesos? ☺

Okay, so, I was born on Valentine’s day. The good thing about being a Valentine baby is that everyone remembers the day and suddenly remembers you being born on that day and eventually, you being a topic of how awesome your birthday is and ultimately, you get to receive two gifts! One for your birthday, and the other for Valentine’s day. As I am not the kind of person burdened with receiving expensive gifts, I never asked anyone to buy me two gifts. But still hoping to receive even simple things that I could cherish. However, I don’t like the ordinary. I like receiving things that are exceptional. I may like material things but I prefer more sentimental and things coming from the heart. And that is love. Yun oh!

So, back to my problem. Money. That is my problem. Where can I find enough money for my birthday treat in less than two weeks time? My God, I really need divine intervention. There are so much things to prioritize and pay for. First is my prom suit which cost more or less 2K. Second, the graduation fee, more or less 1.5K. Third, PTA funds, more or less 4K. And much more other things involving money. *sighs. But I’m still expecting and hoping that everything will be all right in the end and I will get enough money and I will have my birthday party and I will have fun and I will have a memorable Valentine’s day. Law of Attraction. If it’s not all right, then, I don’t know…

Hay kabuhi, budlay kung wai kwarta. Hahaha! To end my post let me just say this: PAMATII ANG AKON PAG-AMPO. O KWARTA! KWARTA! aylol.

  7. tumblrbot asked: WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?

Listening to music always makes me feel better when I’m in a bad mood. It just takes away all the bad vibes inside me.
